i was just walking through the union and i was struck with this horrible sadness... it was just a terrible sinking feeling. and then it was followed with a really big hopeful feeling.

five years ago i moved here. and i had three classes on thursdays, one at 8 am and then the others were at 11:15 and 12:20, respectively. so i had this big break from 9 to 11ish... I lived in Briscoe, a 20 minute walk back and forth to classes (which i was obviously too lazy to make). So instead of going home, i would go to the union and pick up an IDS newspaper and buy a starbucks white mocha and a white macadamia nut cookie and read the whole paper (the fact that my favorite column was published on thursdays by matt peyton notwithstanding). I always sat in the same place. always. i have a favorite couch in the union. it's worn in all the right places and sinks down just right and is just a loved couch that's seen a lot of use and is better for wear. i'd read that whole paper and enjoy my treats and then i'd take a 20 minute nap and go to my other classes. I called these wonderful thursdays my "Caitlin Day"s.
i just walked by my couch and realized.... it's gone. they replaced all the couches in the room, in fact. everything changes. it was a horrible terrible feeling.

and then i heard a soul wrenching version of bob dylan's "don't think twice it's all right". and i was cheered up.

keeping busy.
i forgot how wide-angle my pinhole is. i have neglected it for too long, i've forgotten how to use it! i need to use it more; i feel like i have to relearn it every time i use it. i want to get clear pictures like i did before only i'm not sure i EVER got super clear pics. hm. anyway. there you go, the product of a day's little expedition:

i could do with a nap.
i could also do with some foods.

also saturday night was phenomonal; i hit the root cellar at farm and ran into geraint who i introduced the brit to. it's a funny situation. then we took the drunk bus home and there was a couple of DZ's on the bus (one of them showed her cooch around) and 5 guys who all became a chorus singing the west ham soccer song from the green street hooligans movie.
it was like the twilight zone.
