went to the turnley exhibit at the art museum. and it was wonderful, as expected. i kept trying to separate peter from david, but it was so hard; i mean they had all the photos labeled as one or the other, whoever photographed them. but they were so young and it was the first thing either of them did photographically, so there was no discernable style differences between the two.
on my way in to the art museum a woman in acid wash jeans told me she liked my argyle sweater.
and then a man smoking by the door said he liked my 4 dollar sunglasses.
apparently my outfit was a hit.
i snuck over behind the old factory on masterson and took some photos. with the seagull. in my sassy outfit. the sun was going down and it was pretty good lighting.
waited around downtown and saw the santa claus lighting ceremony, which i've never seen before. that silly light up santa sleigh with 24,000 lights has been up on the old wolf & dessaur building downtown every christmas season of my life and i've never once seen the lighting ceremony. so i stayed around and watched it. i was there alone and it was cold. but it was worth it. i narrowly avoided being interviewed by news channel 15, they're like vultures i tell you... they got the woman next to me.

there's a little bit of slide lovin, from the summer months. i found it and scanned it in today while i'm sitting here bored in the lab.
saw a led zeppelin cover band last night and they were great; ran into cas there and we chatted photo talk a little bit and he was like "yeah you really like the archaic methods" and he's right. i can't help it, i'm addicted to film and alt processes. i really just cannot help myself.
i found a fixie frame, it's an '08 SE Lager (i'm now obsessed) and i'm throwing a kinesis alloy fork on it once i find a nice cheap one.
new favorite website is the mash where you can see all listings from all over the internet on things.... bikes being the most important one, ha.
i've been searching for a bianchi pista. for cheap. bahahaha it doesnt exist. anyway. i'd KILL for a chrome '08 or '09 pista frame. the pista is gorgeous, no?

things work themselves out.. and friday night, no one took it to heart i don't think. so that's great. i also, as a side note, thought i lost my oakleys when really i just wore them into rachel's car on friday night and helpfully left them in her glovebox. it's better than me losing them.

A quick recap of the portland trip.
Erin got to bloomington super late, to my sadness. we ended up leaving town around 7 pm and hit our first big city that night, st. louis. an obvious trip to the arch was on the agenda because it's so close to the highway:
next up was the first time for sleep: we pulled into a hotel about 50 miles outside of kansas city and slept for 4 hours or so. and then! at 6 am central time it was time to get moving again! we hit kansas city and then to avoid kansas's extremely boring landscape, we decided to head north to i-70 to go through nebraska instead. we're about 60 miles up towards nebraska when the best text EVER was received from erin's dad. it said: "DO NOT go into Nebraska!!! There are 46 inches of snow over the state!!" too bad we were already on our waaaay! stop in missouri at squaw creek national wildlife refuge, which was lovely.
then erin had control of the ipod while i drove nebraska and played one. single. song. over and over throughout all of nebraska. david bowie and queen's "under pressure". positively ridiculous. nebraska had the best pit stop yet though, the pony express station and the fake buffalo:
we hit denver around 6 that night (that's 11 hours on the road in case you're unawares) and rachel had given us steve's number and we gave him a call and hung out in downtown denver and went ahead and imposed upon his 13th floor apartment. he took us out on the town, and apart from a debit card debacle where a bar gave me someone else's debit card, it was a phenomonal night, ending with burritos at illegal pete's burrito joint (beats the heck outta qdoba and chipotle):
through the rockies and out the other side on i-80 to utah, down by moab. don't go to grand junction, colorado because it's horrible. but utah was amazing, we all know i'm obsessed with it. utah welcome viewpoint:
made salt lake city that night, always good. then tried for boise but it was a no go. tiredness won us over and we stopped at a motel 6 in twin falls for like 3 hours (took the first showers of the trip, hurrah!) and then were off again. got into oregon around 1 and i was blown away by all the scenery. i was BORN to live there.
got into portland around 7, much to rachel's excitement! dinner at delta, then bedliness in anticipation for exploring portland the next day.
we made it to the coast monday and it was GORGEOUS. exploring in downtown portland the rest of the day and in the morning on tuesday. and then i had to go :(. i'll post more pics when my computer isn't about to die :)

trip to bean blossom bottoms yesterday:
i've been listening to a lot of radiohead. well just the one song really, "backdrifts", and it's amazing:
We're rotten fruit
We're damaged goods
What the hell, we've got nothing more to lose
One gust and we will probably crumble
We're backdrifters
This far but no further
I'm hanging off a branch
I'm teetering on the
honey sweet
So full of sleep
I'm backsliding
You fell into our arms
You fell into our arms
We tried but there was nothing we could do
Nothing we could do
lovely.
i dropped my phone in the toilet at the bluebird wednesday. and that's horrible; it's acting all sorts of messed up, which i suppose is to be expected. i also faceplanted at home and just royally messed up my foot, i bled everywhere, it was terrible. blah.
and now i have a project due at 5 that i really MUST do.

i promised more photos and more photos you shall have.
pinholes from san antonio:
remember those wonderous photos i mentioned from august 31, the "first day of the rest of my life" that i did with that old mamiya without a functioning light meter? i finally went and got them, yayness:
and i'm searching for a new holga to complete my life.
i spent the day in bradford woods, and it was amazing.
